“Shell-fies” from another time

There is something magical about our summer. From the moment we start to build memories, summertime is like a “box” of pictures, smells, sounds and moments of freedom and carefreeness, well kept in our mind and heart. Our connection with the sea and everything that comes to it, lifts us up and embraces us in a way that cannot be put into words.

One of my strongest childhood summer memories, is that of my sister and me in the sea at “our beach” in Lesvos island, searching for seashells with our snorkel masks, for hours.

As we were lucky enough to spend two months every year by the sea, we proudly filled big jars with our small “wonders” and the excitement we felt when we discovered a sea shell that was more unusual than the rest, is still so vivid in my mind. We kept those in a special jar.

Even now as an adult and a mother of two, when I am by the sea alone or with my boys, I fiddle with the sand and pebbles almost instinctively, looking for these little treasures.

The creation of “By the Sea” collection, was as if I opened one of these jars again and played with the little girl in me. I used real sea shells, which I picked from that same beach in Lesvos two years ago and with every detail and every plating combination I chose, I wanted to keep the natural beauty of the original pieces, as alive as possible. Just like my memories.
